Remembrance Parade | Twickenham

Date: 10th Nov 2024 Author: Josh

In another first for 3rd Whitton Scout Group, we joined the service of Remembrance at Radnor Gardens in Twickenham.

We paraded from the riverside along with members of the Royal British Legion, RAF Cadets, 1st Twickenham Scouts and Twickenham Guides.

Following the Mayor, the local MP and other dignitaries we laid a wreath on behalf of the group and then the beavers laid the wreaths they had made beforehand.

We were reminded to remember all those who lost their lives in the service of their countries, not just those lost in the World Wars, but the other conflicts since.

Thank you parents for bringing your young people today. We hope they enjoyed the service and taking part in this wonderful community event.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
