Subscriptions
We have now introduced our new monthly Sub payment system via OSM (Online Scout Manager) which appears to be working well and this covers young People’s Insurance, and also goes towards equipment and section crafts & activities. We have also invested into our Beaver Colony and Cub Pack, Aoife, Alfie, Teddie, Kiyaan, Sarah, Radhika, Caleb & Shayla, so welcome to our Scouting family at 3rd Whitton.
Easter Break
We break up for our Easter Break on Friday 22nd March, after our Quiz Evening and Young Persons’ Sleepovers.
We return to Scouts for all Sections on Friday 19th April
St George’s Day Parade – Sunday 21st April, 2024 – FOR ALL SECTIONS
This year, we will be taking part in the Whitton High Street Parade with the other Whitton Scout Groups. We will meet at Nelson Primary School, Whitton at 11.15am in Full Scouting Uniform, with ironed scarves, correct navy Scout Trousers, Uniform Explorer or Scout Shirts or Beaver or Cub Sweatshirt with all badges sewn on correctly please. The Parade will go up Whitton High Street returning to Nelson School for parent to collect their young person. We do ask that ALL young people attend this Parade as there are only two Mandatory Parades in the Year, St George’s Day, The Patron Saint of Scouting.We will Renew our Scouting Promise separately at the end our normal evening sessions. Therefore, a little different this year but making us more visible to the Community and letting people know 3rd Whitton Scout Group are active and full of adventures!
Ice skating for Scouts & Explorers Only at Guildford Spectrum Friday 26th April, 2024 8.15pm-10.00pm
Due to lack of attendance for our original date of 4/4/24 which we had already paid in advance, Guildford ice-rink have kindly allowed us to amend out visit to a Friday evening when we would normally be holding our sessions. This new date is a Friday when we would be at Scouts/Explorers anyway so I would ask parents if they would either come down and enjoy the evening with us, even try the Ice yourselves or car share the journey with other parents, one taking and one collecting, but I will leave that to yourselves to organise. 😃
Remembrance Sunday 10thNovember, 2024 – FOR ALL SECTIONS
We have been invited this year to take part in the Royal British Legion Service of Remembrance which takes place in Radnor Gardens, Twickenham. We will parade up from Eel Pie Island Bridge, where we will meet and parade up to Radnor Gdns at 10.30am. The March is led by Richmond Brass Band, the RAF Cadets and the local Twickenham Girl Guides. This will be the first time we have been invited so again we must be in our best and smartest Uniform. We will also be carrying our Section Flags and Union Flag along the route. This is such an honour and we have also been asked to help sell poppies in early November to help with the Poppy Appeal. Volunteers needed please.
Summer Camp 2024 for Scouts & Explorers
Sunday 18th August to Friday 23rd August at Broadstone Warren. Information for this has already been sent out and places are going quickly so please get your place confirmed asap.
Summer Camp for All 2025
Saturday 2nd August to Saturday 9th August 2025 although certain dates will confirmed as each section will have selected days only, once it has been decided by District and Leadership Team.
