Fundraising Extravaganza 2024

Date: 24th Mar 2024 Author: Josh

Thank You!

For ten years now 3rd Whitton has put on a Quiz Night as its big fundraiser of the year.

We are very grateful for the support of Heathfield Schools’ Partnership for the generous provision of the school hall. This allowed us to run two events simultaneously, with a Movie Night and Sleepover put on by our Leaders at the hut.

In past years, the funds raised have funded new camping equipment and contributed towards the double-glazing in the hut to help bear down on utility costs.

Our Group Executive was conscious of the steep increases in everyday living costs our families have had to deal with in recent times and so the events were priced to maximise participation and enjoyment.

However, by exceeding the target we had set for ourselves, we can follow through with our plan to allocate funds to section evening activities and the implementation of this will start at the Leaders’ meeting at the end of Easter which will followed by a review by the Group Executive.

Quiz Night

60 parents, friends and members of our District Team had great fun taking part in a “Back to School” Quiz. It was based on familiar school subjects such a history and geography, PE (sports) and Science.

Food for the evening was generously provided at cost by Ruba Restaurant (rubarestaurant.co.uk) in Teddington.

We want to extend a huge thank you to all the generous donors who contributed prizes, and to all the Explorers for running round all evening selling tickets! They took orders to the bar, helped with the Heads and Tails game and were on hand to award the prizes to the winning team.

Our raffle went so well that nearly everyone who purchased tickets went home with a prize!

Richmond District Commissioner Phil Hunt did an amazing job as quizmaster this year, we hope to have him back for future events!

Over At The Hut

In addition to an exciting quiz night, we organized a movie night and sleepover for our Beavers and Cubs, with some of our scouts enjoyed a mini camping experience in tents outdoors complete with a campfire and s’mores!

The beavers and cubs enjoyed a delightful film experience watching Toy Story 2 and were served freshly cooked breakfast the next morning before their parents arrived to pick them up

In the end, it’s not about what you have, but what you give. Every small act of kindness can make a big difference. Together, let’s make an impact and change lives
