A lovely weekend of sunshine and showers at the Borough Camp at Walton Firs in the Surrey countryside (well, close to the A3 and M25!), with a mixture of regular Scout campers and a fair sprinkling of first-time Cubs.
Activities were laid on by the various Scout Groups from Richmond upon Thames as well as those normally available on the site - archery, rock climbing/ abseiling, maze and assault course (don’t forget the tuck shop! - ed).
Sporting competitions were also laid on and showed 3rd Whitton’s usual competitive streak. We entered a number of teams for all the events available - tug of war, rounders, 6-a-side football and volleyball. Our mixed Cub teams played sportingly, but failed to reach any of the finals. However, the Scouts showed their skills and both the Teddies A and B teams eventually had to play each other in an exciting Volleyball final. They then had to go onto play in the football final - won with an emphatic 3-0 win over Istmar.
