3rd Whitton Scout Group
Ibn Battuta -
On Sunday 25th November the 3rd Whitton Ibn Battuta Cub Pack and Scout Troop held
a Group Faith Event which was open to all Groups in the District and by extension
their guests! The Scout Hut was thronging with activity for the full three hours
apart from a short intermission when GSL Phil Hunt awarded CSL Zubair Malik with
his Five Year Service award!
The event was an opportunity for the Cubs and Scouts
to have some fun learning about Islam and earn a few badges on the way. 'My Faith'
and 'World Faith' badge worksheets were given to the Cubs and Scouts respectively,
depending on their religion. These helped them achieve their badges in a practical
way by guiding them to take part in some fun yet educational activities.
The Activity
Bases were run by a very helpful team of Parent Helpers. In fact we couldn't have
done it without them! The bases included: Fancy Dress and Photo Shoot upstairs inside
a fantastic Bedouin style tent, Arabic Calligraphy, Drawing & Modelling, Henna hand
painting, Exhibition on Islam, Tile & Plate Painting, Ramadan & Fasting Information
stall and not forgetting the
Tea and Snacks stall where delights from across the
Islamic World could be sampled all for free!
Mosque tours will be arranged in the
near future for those who want to complete the remaining requirements of their badges.
