3rd Whitton Scout Group

Winter Camp at Walton Firs was a very warm one for winter. With activities going on all the time, it was an active one as well.

The first activity of the day was pioneering: we were attempting to make a rope bridge. Just before lunch we tested our aim on the archery range. Next, we split into two with half of us on the assault course and the other climbing and abseiling. Free time followed and so did the tuck shop as we relaxed before dinner. Activities continued as we played another wide game and spent our second and final night in.

Breakfast next morning was, again, a fry up. We tidied our rooms (mostly) and had some more free time. After, we had Scout Zone – led by Alexander, Callum and Ahmen – which is a time to reflect on our thoughts and behaviour. We tidied up the pioneering poles as we failed our task. Tuck shop again followed by assault cause and climbing and abseiling. We ended camp with a final meeting and farewell.

Thank you to Phil, David Carter (the cook) and a big thank you to Caron who organised it all for us. We had a fantastic time.

Blog by David:

The first day was all about getting to know the campsite. We unpacked our bags and when it started to get dark, we played a wide game. The second day began with a breakfast when all of us were dragged out of bed.
