On 11 May, 3rd Whitton entered a fantastic 4 teams to the 2007 day prowl in Windsor Great Park (more teams than any other participating group!), which turned out to be a gloriously hot day!
The teams had to orienteer from point to point, criss-crossing the undulating parkland, which includes both woods and open pasture. At each checkpoint, the teams had to undertake an activity.
At the end of the day, the teams gathered, but as it was so hot, the final scoring was postponed. However, there was an opportunity to present 3rd Whitton Scouts with the winning trophy for the recent shooting competition!
The day prowl scores were released on the following Tuesday - and 3rd Whitton turned in a brilliant performance:
- of the 21 Scout/Guide teams (who undertook the prowl as a team effort), 3rd Whitton team A achieved a superb 2nd place with 477 points out of a possible 550, beaten by 8th Twickenham with 490 points. Our B team came 12th with 307 points.
- of the 7 teams which were accompanied by a leader, 3rd Whitton D team came came home a runaway 1st place with 506 points, while the C team trailed in with 212 points.
