CIARAN’S BLOG
My dad and I first went to visit our Beavers leaving to visit the other scout bases in Whitton and then we gave a lift for two scouts to get to our HQ at Springfield Road. The scouts set of on their trip and I then collected my map, list of addresses and passport.
We then drove over to Kew HQ and found many of the District Leaders preparing to set off to visit some of the other Scout Groups. We visited 6th Richmond, North Richmond and 1st Richmond. Then back to 3rd Whitton to see the Beavers returning from their walking tour!
It was then about lunchtime. My dad and I thought we’d go to get a juicy burger from a place we had been to in Teddington, but it was closed down! We therefore decided to get a pizza in Twickenham (we had to leave out the chocolate fudge cake to save time). The early afternoon was spent visiting 13th Twickenham, 1st St Margarets, 8th Twickenham, 2nd Teddington and then 7th Teddington.
We were then on our way past Hampton Court when the mobile phone went - Caron was concerned that 3rd Whitton might not have got over to visit Hampton and Hampton Hill groups and that it was nearly 3pm! We therefore sped off to get to 1st Hampton Hill, 3rd Hampton, 7th Hampton and 3rd Hampton Hill. I was hoping that I had more stamps than anyone else and that it was a race back to 3rd Whitton before 4pm. We then heard that someone from the group still had to get stamps from Ham/Petersham and Ham. There was a nervous wait before the message came through that they had been visited with seconds to spare!

A great start to the Centenary Year! A constant stream of Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers arrived at 3rd Whitton to get their passports stamped and to join in our activities.
We laid on our giant puzzle, an east-meets-west food tasting as well as a dressing up kit, with photos taken of the participants. A further stamp could be gained by using the radio, which connected over the airwaves to two other Scout Groups in the Borough. We hope that if you visited us, you enjoyed your visit to 3rd Whitton.

A group of Beavers set of from St Edmunds Church just before 10am to visit 1st Whitton and 2nd Whitton, completing their walking tour at mid-day.
Two groups of Scouts also struck out to the far north-west of the District, armed with public transport information and reached the farthest parts of the District, including Mortlake, Barnes and Petersham. 2 car teams of cubs took part - with the drivers on-standby if any of the Scout groups needed assistance.
