SCOUTS - ages 10 to 15. Scouts are expected to take part in a full range of indoor and outdoor activities. As well as participating, they are expected to take the lead in organising themselves and being responsible citizens. The range of activities are broadened to reflect these new responsibilities and they are expected to stretch themselves by suitable challenges - particularly in outdoor pursuits such as backswood cooking, more basic camping in shelters and night hikes. Scouts are allocated to patrols, with the older Scouts being patrol leaders, responsible for their patrol members.

At the age of about 15+, Scouts can continue their scouting careers in District Explorer Units. 3rd Whitton is linked to Magellen Explorer Unit, but we are seeking to establish our own Explorer Unit.

Older Scouts can also provide assistance to younger members in Beaver, Cub and Scout sections through the Young Leaders programme, often combined with being an Explorer Scout and working toward DoE Awards
